What is the proper way to sleep on a hill in the wilderness? Feet goes up the slope or down?

Is there a north south east west preferred direction was well? What is the proper way to sleep on a hill in the wilderness? Feet goes up the slope or down?
Neither! You simply scrape out a shelf and lay crosswise to the slope. Head down is NEVER comfortable unless you like the feeling of blood running into and filling your head. And the alternative would be like sleeping sitting up which is a stress and strain on your back (spine) and butt. The ONLY logical solution is to create the shelf or platform where you can stretch out comfortably. I have never been on a mountain side hunting where I could not find a place suitable for making a shelf bed. I have spent more than a few nights sleeping "out" for the experience in survival situations without blanket of sleeping bags. GOOD sleep is critical to your survival and you should learn how to make the best of it in any situation. Trial and error will tell you REAL quick what is wrong with your sleeping suggestions. The shelf will save the day (or the night) for you. Be sure when you scrape out the impression for your body that you include more room for your hip and shoulder. In other words, try to make the shelf you are creating conform to the curvature of your body when laying on your side. If available, line the impression with a quantity of grass, tree leaves, etc. to help insulate you from the cold ground. And if there is enough of it, also consider acquiring enough of the leaves and grass to pull over yourself once you have snuggled in for the night. I learned from experience that sleeping (make that TRYING to sleep) when you are wet and cold will be the longest night of your life. There are too many GOOD options available to be sure we never have to experience that. My day pack ALWAYS includes the few necessities that will make my day and ESPECIALLY my night safe and warm and well fed. The time to think about your creature comforts is BEFORE you head for the woods or the mountains, and not AFTER you get there and find yourself in trouble or in need. Common sense and simple precautions are ALWAYS your best answer. Sleep well! What is the proper way to sleep on a hill in the wilderness? Feet goes up the slope or down?
