For WIlderness Survival instruction that far excels scoutings level of training check out Three Red Trees School in Northfield, Connecticut. Their location is easy to get to and the folks who run it have been working with kids and native survival skills for a long time.

From the East, West, or South: Take I-84 to Waterbury. In Waterbury get onto Route 8 North. Get off at Exit 41. Go left at end of exit. Take first right onto Marsh Road. Take first left onto Reder Road. At stop sign take a right onto Newton Road. Newton Road will turn to dirt after a couple hundred yards. The second house on right is a single story, brown with yellow trim and your destination.

From the North: Find your way to Route 8 South. Get off at Exit 41. At end of ramp go right onto Marsh Road. Take first left onto Reder Road. At stop sign take a right onto Newton Road. Newton Road will turn to dirt after a couple hundred yards. The second house on right is a single story, brown with yellow trim and your destination.
