Runescape took away pvp in the wilderness a long time ago, why?

When runescape took away player vs. player in the wilderness, it dissapered for a long time. Then they put in worlds just for player vs. player. Why did they take it away in the first place?Runescape took away pvp in the wilderness a long time ago, why?
Because people were able to stand on one side and kill people walking by on the other side, it made many people angry so they just stopped PvP in the wild.
Well, now wildy's back (omg, we're all gonna die) XD

Runescape took away pvp in the wilderness a long time ago, why?
I think I remember them saying it was because people were using it to real world item trade. When they put in the trading update that would only allow players to trade so much at a time it made it harder for people to give away stuff in runescape for something in the real world. So people would go into the wilderness and purpously get killed so the item would be dropped and the real world item trading was still going on, so they just took out pvp. Later people complained about them taking it out so they put in special pvp worlds and adjusted the amount a player can gain when they kill somebody.
I personally play runescape, and have had some experience in this field. Jagex took away Player Vs. Player because people would be trying to do something non relevant to PvP and get killed doing it, for example Fist of Guthix, Jagex recieved many reports about this being outrageous considering they didn't want any part in PvP. Jagex had no choice but to remove it so they could keep members. They later put in PvP worlds because people starting complaining they couldn't PvP, again afraid to lose members they put in selective worlds for people who "want" to PvP. There for it is a persons choice to get killed in stead of an inevidablity.
They did it to stop RWT (Real World Trading). JaGex kept getting legal complaints about people trying to buy runescape money with real money, which was against the rules of the game, and a way people did this was by trading the money from one account, to the buyer, OR having someone with all the money in the wilderness and you kill them, then picking up the drop. They stopped it by putting a trade limit on and took away the wilderness and added PvP with random drops.
Yes, what Jason said, it made many players mad when this was done. A player would jump over the ditch and attack another player and then run back if they were losing. It basically killed PvP, so RuneScape re-created it.

It is much better now anyway, you can explore the wilderness without wear of other players. :)
people complained about being lured into the wild. then they made the ditch.

with every world having a dangerous pvp wild, drop trading is hard to monitor meaning it is possible for real world trading (buying, selling money, accounts)

there was no trade limit back in the day meaning you can give milliions for nothing and scamming was much higher back in the day.

the main reason jagex took away wild is because of real world trading.

All of these are correct. :)
