How much hassle is camping in Indian Peaks Wilderness CO?

I'm contemplating a back-country camping trip (hike in, tent camp) overnight in Indian Peaks Wilderness near Granby, CO. Probably will start around Lake Granby. Is this a super-crowded area? How much of a hassle is the permit? Where is the best place to get a permit? And finally-- Any suggested camp sites? How much hassle is camping in Indian Peaks Wilderness CO?
I hiked there a few years back when the Rocky Mtn. NP was totally overcrowded and a park ranger suggested Indian Peaks Wilderness. I picked up the free permit at a ranger station in Boulder and started on the south end (Nederland) up Devils Thump, PCT and back. It was spectacular and almost nobody on the trails despite main hiking season.

We got the permit (and a map) right away, so no troubles but maybe somebody replies that has done the northern part, with more information. Have fun!
