What restricted firearm is best suited to carry while working in remote wilderness?

I'm a female, working in the woods in BC Canada and want to carry a firearm for self defence. What restricted firearm is best suited to carry while working in remote wilderness?
Rob M, please do your research before you say this sort of things. There are such things as Wilderness Authorization to Carry, which allows one to carry a particular restricted firearm/handgun and this is what Rachel here is calling for.

Now, to the question at hand. For that kind of purpose, I would recommend a revolver, chambered in .357, .45 ACP or .44. These are powerful rounds and if Yogi the Bear comes calling in on you, you want something with a lot of oomph to bring it down before he makes you his lunch.

Unless you are VERY skilled at doing field-maintenance of firearms (or trained, ie: military), I would stay away from semi-automatic pistols for that purpose. Revolvers have less moving parts, therefore less things that can go wrong and prevent it from firing if it's fouled up.
Rachel, I'm not real sure what you mean by 'restricted firearm' but I'm pretty sure you don't mean 'illegal firearm.'

If you can lawfully carry a Glock Model 20 .10mm, then Censored by Evil has given you really good advise. A .10mm is better than a .357 Magnum which I consider the bare minimum for your situation. Unless you can comfortably shoot a .44 Magnum.

Good luck and stay safe.

Nothing short of a .357 mag. revolver, preferably a .41 magnum.
It sounds like you are asking how to carry an illegal weapon, this breaks the terms of yahoo has set forth and there is no place for these questions here in yahoo answers.
Get a Glock model 20 and use 180 grain hollow point bullets. The 10mm has enough power to stop a black bear with one shot if you hit it right, and will stop a grizzly with a couple of shots. It holds 15 bullets, so if you are not a good shot you have extra chances.

Why do you want to work where the government has no respect for your God-given right to defend yourself? You would be better off here in America. I have 33 guns, and my government knows their job is to protect my rights, not violate them, and yes, I do carry a Glock 20. There are mountain lions, coyotes, and bears here in the mountains of Virginia and I refuse to be eaten.

carrying a restricted firearm under those conditions is illegal in canada. If yo get caught expect to spend about 10 years in prison. I suggest a non-restricted firearm. A shotgun should work well.
44 mag.s ~~ with simple action

trapped to your chest----Depends on chest --lol

Edit

Shotgun or rifle too long if close quarters are involved as in surprise or attack, either hand should be able to grasp weapon,~~ Don't hold ur breath til the idiots here in Canada give that permit .but ya never nose .
