How do we know there aren't terrorists in remote places like the Amazon and Alaskan and Canadian wilderness?

I cannot stress enough that I AM NOT one of those paranoid bigots that think terrorists are hiding around every corner. I'm just curious as to what ways governments can know what goes on in remote in regards to terrorist training and attack preparation. How do we know there aren't terrorists in remote places like the Amazon and Alaskan and Canadian wilderness?
How do we know there aren't terrorists in the line at the grocery store next to us? How are we sure they are not working in our factories? Maybe they are all hiding in beach resorts on the east coast?

Come on is this really a serious question?
I hear you, it's disturbing that dudes like Mohammed Atta were cruising the strip in FLL. And there are highly secretive "training camps" such as Islamberg in the Catskills. Who knows how many more. How do we know there aren't terrorists in remote places like the Amazon and Alaskan and Canadian wilderness?
Because less Muslims in that mentions areas. Terrorist are referred to Muslims only.
If there are two in my basement right now, then they could be anywhere!!

Paranoid? Me thinks not...
