What are the elements for surivial when lost somewhere like the wilderness?

It's for a school project. What I've got down is the basics, shelter, source of water/food, and heat/fire. Am I missing anything? Or do I got the basics down already.What are the elements for surivial when lost somewhere like the wilderness?

the biggest thing after water is to stay dry... you can go weeks with out food, days with out water, but even with heat if you get dunked or rained on you can get hypothermia with in minuets and be dead with in a few hrs even with a camp fire.



The only thing that ranks higher is having a level head.. if you freak out and panic you will end up rotting in the woods. stay calm and keep your eyes open food and shelter are all round you in the wild but only if you slow down enough to see itWhat are the elements for surivial when lost somewhere like the wilderness?
No, that's about it. If you want to be rescued or self rescue you might want a compass or GPS, signal flares, smoke bombs and a whistle.

Something to keep you from sun stroke- something for your head and arms- some sort of shoes too
