isle royal national park is in michigan; but it takes some work to get to the actual park, i think you need a ferry to get you to the island that is isle royale...but once there you;ll see moose and hear wolves at night

There should be a ton of "primitive" campsites.. they're better because there is no electricity, usually no running water and toilets... very peaceful..
Your best resource is Don Wright's Guide to Free Campgrounds. It's a book (an east and west addition) that lists campgrounds in forests and other secluded places that are $12 and under for one night's stay. I use it as my camping bible.. i don't want to stay where RVs and generators are... I suggest you get a copy.. it will help you plan your trip better....
