I am planning to relocate myself into the wilderness of the North East United States. I need the best possible tent I can find for 1-2 persons that will last in ALL weather conditions until I can manage to build a long term shelter (home)What is the best tent for living in the wilderness?

Wow, a true dirt-bagger. Have you seen the documentary Alone In the Wilderness? Sounds like you're going to be in need of an expedition tent, check out the Nemo Tenshi two person tent and the Marmot NYX two person ten. I'd say go two person opposed to one, you'll have a place to keep stuff dry and away from critters.

Also, have you looked into yurts? They break down easily and can be assembled anywhere in a matter of time.
Please let me know where you plan to relocate to so we may notify the Search %26amp; Rescue parties as well as the Forest Rangers. See, it is illegal to stay in more than one place for more than 14 days on US Forest Land. You'll most likely be voilating several federal acts of Congress if you try to "live" in designated Wilderness locations. In many states it is illegal to camp on Game Lands and in protected areas. If you are planning to do this in Maine, a good deal of the land in the remote parts of the state are actually privately held by logging companies...so I wish you the best but hope like hell you get arrested.

But by all means go. It means there will be one less person online to ask questions like this.
1, 25lb roll of 25mil visqueen,, 2, 8x 16 black tarps,, when you get to your destination ,, dont put up a tent ,,build a sleeping area 3 sided with a raised sleeping area about 12" off the ground,,visqueen the ground and sides and tarp the top with one and cover your firewood with the other ,,all food goes up a tree 50' from camp and 25' up,,welcome to the north woods
Any North Face 4 Season tent would be great.

Canvas tents (like the Cabelas Outfitter series) would be more sturdy and you can put a wood burning stove in them for warmth, but they weigh a ton and you cannot carry them more than a few feet......unless you had pack horses.
From experience, I recommend a MSR Hubba Hubba. They are 3 - 4.5 lbs depending on what configuration you want. www.msrcorp.com

I love mine! It's a super backpacking tent!

I'd also recommend a Big Agnes brand tent - try the Big Agnes Seedhouse 2 or their mountain tent.

Good luck!

PS - ignore the canvas tent guy. Nobody in their right mind would use a canvas tent for backpacking.
Go with some kind of canvas A frame, you can get them fairly small..Panther Primitives sells nice ones online. As far as the comments from the liberal communist .I wont mention his name but his initials are "Willie D"...People like you are the reason this country has problems, stupid flatlanders are just in the way....With that comment: It is your God given right to go out into the wilderness and live, and the govt can kiss my butt! If that's a crime call me the Al Capone of wilderness survivalists! Because for that right I will die for! That is the one thing I will fight for to the death if necessary!
there is this awesome tent made by the north face

go look on

www.cabelas.com
