I was curious, because I'm going to get a German shepherd puppy soon and want to feed Blue Wilderness when she's older. But I know some people just feed adult food, depending on the food; is Blue Wilderness okay?
If not, I'll go with Blue Buffalo Large Breed Puppy formula. Is Blue Wilderness Dog Food okay to feed to a German Shepherd Puppy?
I would NEVER feed such a high protein content to a GSD puppy. You could do irreparable bone development damage to your pup.
If you are unsure of what to feed your pup, you need to have a conversation with your breeder or your vet about bone growth plates and how proteins affect the growth of your GSD.
Many GSD breeders feed their pups adult food to keep the growth rate slower, so the dog develops properly.
When your pup is an adult, at about 2 years of age, Blue Wilderness would be an excellent choice.
ETA: I would like to clarify that Blue does not claim their Wilderness product is "all life stages". Blue does not have an all life stages product. The other user is in error.
If you are going to feed it you should feed the large breed puppy as it supports the development of large breed dogs that need to grow at a slower rate.
In this case the wilderness formula has higher protein/ fat so your pup will grow at a faster rate than on the large breed puppy formula-
Typically when people feed an adult food to a puppy it is because it is lower in protein/ fat in order to slow growth so that the large breed dogs develop skeletal/muscular structure more slowly as you can cause joint/bones issues if they grow too fast. However the wilderness blend is not designed for large breed pup growth (despite the claim for all life stages) and would actually support a faster growth rate- which isn't ideal. Long story short it would be better developmental for you to feed the large breed puppy until your dog is at least 18 months old then switch to whatever formula you choose. Is Blue Wilderness Dog Food okay to feed to a German Shepherd Puppy?
Blue Wilderness is a great dog food according www.dogfoodanalysis.com. Check with your vet about what you should feed your dog as far as a Puppy formula. I would think that since Blue Wilderness is a highly rated dog food, it would be alright, but your vet would know better than me.
i would recomend u use blue buffalo large breed puppy formula
untill there one yrs old and then switch to adult large breed
largre breed formula helps control how the dogs bones grow so in the future, they wont have problems like hip dispacia and so on
good luck!

Blue Wilderness Salmon is the best of the Blue line and the only one I would personally feed. It is fine for dogs of all ages.
