You cannot shoot in the city and you must be 500 feet from any house or road and what you are shooting at is most important, you should be in a valley or shoot into a hill. Also you must cleanup your mess or shoot bio-degradable targets. Shooting into abandon vehicles or houses is a felony.
What I do is look for empty rounds laying on the ground and that is usually a good indicator if you can shoot or not.How much land do you need to own, or have around you in the California wilderness to fire a gun, legally?
That's a good question. I would like to know also. I do know that in my county, Riverside County, you can not legally shoot anywhere except at ranges. Kinda sucks because the whole Eastern part of the county is desert with nothing around.
Edit: That is what the Sherrif's Dept told me when I called, but now that I think about it, I have hunted in RivCo, so I think that rules are different for shotguns.
