How do you make an underground wilderness hideout?

i've always loved digging holes ever since i was a kid. does anyone know of a good, book, site, or video , etc on how to build sturdy underground wilderness hideouts?



i'm mainly concerned with how to build the walls and what not, so it wont collapse ... and maybe some weather proofing info



please dont say, " a backhoe and 5 buried school buses connected together covered with plastic etc" ... it has to be stuff i can drag into the woods, like shovels, cement, pvc, etcHow do you make an underground wilderness hideout?

Our dugout, when we were kids was pretty good.

About 4,5 foot deep, 10ftx5ft area, sturdy limbs holding up plenty of brush for a roof.



But when you say, "wilderness", keep in mind it's illegal to do something like that on BLM, or Forestry wilderness.

You might could get a miners claim, and do one that way, but why?
