How can I legally carry a handgun on my wilderness camp/hike trip in California.?

I posses a Nevada CCW and understand that it's not valid in CA so wondering what restrictions I have being from out of state to carry a handgun while on my solo wilderness hiking/camping trip in CA? I assume open carry is OK? I have no plans on hunting only personal protection. How can I legally carry a handgun on my wilderness camp/hike trip in California.?
You can carry any kind of legal firearm concealed or open, loaded or unloaded in any National Forest and BLM land unless expressly forbidden, even in California. Target shooting is also permitted unless expressly forbidden. Firearms are prohibited in California State Parks, National Parks, and Monuments. Common sense: If it's legal to hunt there, it's legal to carry a loaded firearm there.
Don't do it. It's my understanding that national forest lands and BLM now let you carry based on the state's laws. California's laws regarding carrying are very strict.

You're probably stuck out of luck there. Come to Michigan. We honor every state's permit.
California allows open carry of UNLOADED firearms.
in CA?

Become a hypocrite. In other words become an antigunner and decry how evil guns are, raise a lot of money for the cause, spend it in flashy ways...then go and apply for a concealed carry permit because 'all those right wing extremists want to kill me, so I need a gun to protect myself'

It's true, the VAST MAJORITY of the 'board of directors' for Brady Hand Gun Control Inc have CA valid concealed carry permits

They want to have guns they just don't want YOU to have guns
