And what can we learn from it?How did Jesus handle the temptations from Satan in the wilderness?
Jesus used Scripture to battle Satan’s temptation, not some elaborate spiritual power inaccessible to us. Jesus fought this battle as a man in this battle, and He drew on no "special resources" unavailable to us.
We effectively resist temptation in the same way Jesus did: by countering Satan’s seductive lies by shining the light of God’s truth upon them. If we are ignorant of God’s truth, we are poorly armed in the fight against temptation.
2 Kings 2:23-24 (King James Version)
23And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
24And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them. How did Jesus handle the temptations from Satan in the wilderness?
By quoting the word of God to him and we can do the same thing. This is one reason why I say we ought to memorize the word. We can have it ready in case of emergencies that way. I have memorized many chapters and verses that I loved which helps me to answer questions quickly too.
One of the best things learned is Jesus is not God . Jehovah is God. Matthew 4:10 says
Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’”
Didn't he rebut each temptation by saying "it is written"?
We should always cite our sources and be ready to back up what we say with documentation.
Resist the devil and he will flee and stay IN His Holy Living Word! (It is written,,,,,, is all Jesus said to the devil in the wilderness.) ;)
A woodcutter saved him from the big bad wolf...or was it his nose would grow when he told a lie? I can't remember the plots of all these fairytales.
He had Satan repellent on his Jebus utility belt.
Know the word of God.
