I'm going camping into the woods on the 4th and returning the 7th, and there's no shower. I heard that potato flour would clean your hair, but I would like to get your tips too... Thanks very much for all the answers :)Any tips how to stay clean for 3 days in the wilderness without showering?
You can not stay clean in an air conditioned house for three days without showering much less in the wilderness. Good Luck with that.
I camp frequently, and there are some tricks you can do to both reduce the dirt, although not really staying perfectly clean. I take wet wipes for the major stinky areas. I put my hair in braids and leave it that way for the duration of the trip. If you are near a water source, you can swim in a river / lake and get rid of grime. If you have room in your camping equipment, you can take a solar shower, which is a nifty little thing. It's a metallic bag you fill with water and it gets heated by the sun. You hang it in a tree or something similiar and instant shower. However, if you are playing in the dirt, than you are going to get dirty - no use worrying about it. That's the fun of going out in the wilderness! Do your best to stay comfortable and remember you don't stink worse than anyone else in your group. Enjoy!Any tips how to stay clean for 3 days in the wilderness without showering?
Take wet wipes to use for your hands, face, underarms, etc., and yes, you can use baby powder or flour as an alternative to shampoo.
Be sure to take enough potable water for not only drinking, but hand-washing, tooth-brushing, etc., and take toilet paper. You will also need to make sure there is some provision for disposing of waste/garbage, such as either garbage bags to tote it out or a way to burn or bury it if that's permissable.
You will probably want to forego any creams, lotions, or makeup that would create extra buildup on your skin, but you need to consider bug repellent/sunblock %26amp; chapstick.
The one time I went to camp, we got stuck in the woods for quite some time. We all smelled really bad, so we sprayed perfume like every two hours.
We called it 'stinking pretty'. Not really advice, but hey, don't want anyone in your camp group fainting from the stench!
