Why was it necessary for Jesus to undergo the temptation in the wilderness?

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth our of the mouth of God.Why was it necessary for Jesus to undergo the temptation in the wilderness?
To qualify to his role as the sacrificial lamb. The requirement for a sacrificial animal is without spot and blemish.

Jesus must undergo this extreme test to be proven that He is qualified. He passed the test. He was without spot and blemish. No sin and no sickness in his body.
You should read the Wendy Alec book "The First Judgment" - she does a great job of tackling this - the first book in the series is "The Fall of Lucifer" and they are two of the best books I've ever read.

Okay, Jesus could have succumbed to these temptations - if he had -- he would have gone over to Satan's side and the entire plan to redeem man would have been nullified................I believe it was a lot tougher than it seems when you read it in Scripture..............

Jesus hadn't eaten for 40 days and he could have turned the stones to bread - however, he was not to use the Holy Spirit's power for his own gain, but for God's glory................ and Satan had already won millions of angels, maybe he thought he could get Jesus to bow to him................................ .there is so much we don't know about spiritual struggles. Why was it necessary for Jesus to undergo the temptation in the wilderness?
For the same reason that Adam had to be tempted - prior to temptation, one is innocent. After temptation, one is either righteous or unrighteous. Jesus is referred to as "the second Adam", meaning that He was going to do what Adam could not do and complete the work of redemption that was made necessary due to Adam's failure.

In Adam, all are put in the position of being sinner. In Christ, all are put in the position of being righteous.

We are born in Adam's bloodline - we are Adam's descendants.

We must be born again (John 3) to be in Christ.
To teach us that:

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Because some man because of food, they disobeyed God.

Hebrews 12:16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

To teach us that it is not God who is tempting us to do sin but it is satan.

Matthew 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

1Thessalonians 3:5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

To teach us to worship only God the creator %26amp; not the creatures.

Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Because some men worship not the Creator.

Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Romans 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Many have given you great answers.

As for the half brain like your prophet refers to women, I don't find it funny but it's absolutely pathetic and also his act of sleeping with a 6 year old.
You're right he knew he would come out ok

To who was he proving what - as there was no temptation
Satan tempting God !!!

I can never stop laughing for hours every time someone brings it up.
